SurveyMonkey acquires web survey company Usabilla

DIY research software company SurveyMonkey yesterday announced that it had acquired Amsterdam-based website and app survey company, Usabilla, in a mixed cash and stock acquisition that was valued at approximately $80 million.

Usabilla’s platform is used by companies to collect, analyse, and act on real-time user feedback that allows those companies to subsequently improve their products and customer experience.

This acquisition helps to ‘fill in a missing piece’ in the SurveyMonkey toolkit said their Chief Executive Officer, Zander Lurie. Usabilla will help SurveyMonkey by allowing users to give SurveyMonkey real-time feedback on one of their pages, or by allowing SurveyMonkey to ask users a question when they leave a page; why they left without completing an action, for example.

“The acquisition strengthens our position in this rapidly growing, multi-billion-dollar market. I’m thrilled to welcome the Usabilla team to SurveyMonkey for this exciting new chapter together” said Lurie.

Usabilla’s CEO Marc van Agteren was equally as excited about the acquisition, saying that his companies services added a complementary product to SurveyMonkey’s existing products.

The acquisition is expected to be finalized and close in Q2 2019.
