An award for change: ADIA & ESOMAR announce the winner of Research Got Talent Australia 2021

The Australian Data and Insights Association (ADIA, formerly AMSRO) and the global ESOMAR Foundation announced the Australian winner for the Research Got Talent Award 2021 competition.

The Research Got Talent (RGT) competition encourages young professionals to use market research and insights to support local charities and NGOs to overcome pressing social issues. Entrants submit a project proposal for a problem facing the charity/ NGO, detailing how they would conduct research to assist in overcoming this issue.

The two winners were Samantha Liew and May Chantra from Lewers Research. Their winning entry, Courage to Care – Upstander Program Scoping, was created in association with Courage to Care Victoria (C2C). Liew and Chantra’s entry was a project proposal that would equip the charity with the insights it needs to help expand its Upstander Programs; Which address racism, bullying and prejudice, in the schoolyard, workplace and community.

Liew and Chantra will now represent Australia’s data, insight and research industry in ESOMAR’s global Research Got Talent competition, which will run in conjunction with the ESOAMR Congress in September 2021.

The announcement of this competition coincided with the Australian Data and Insights Association’s (ADIA) rebranding. The Association changed its name from the Association of Market and Social Research Organisations (AMSRO) to better represent the changes occurring across the industry and the emergence of new tech-enabled research in the global economy.

The name, Australian Data and Insights Association, was chosen after an extensive research and consultation process with members and key stakeholders. ADIA CEO Sarah Campbell said that “As the peak organisation for Australia’s data, insights and research organisations, ADIA’s primary objective is to protect and promote the industry so that our members’ significant contribution to Australia’s economic, social and political well-being continues.”

ADIA members will still be required to continue to adhere to Australia’s only registered Industry Privacy Code as part of the ADIA Trust Mark compliance process, which includes data protection and ethics.
